Day Twenty One – #30DaysOfTheWord

Jeremiah 39:1 – 41:18, 2 Timothy 1:1-18, Psalm 90:1 – 91:16 and Proverbs 26:1-2
It is Day Twenty One and according scientific evidence the day when this becomes a habit! I know this consistency game has worked to an extent because on the bus home tonight, I briefly considered not doing my Bible reading and posting for today, but my mind repelled the idea immediately. Win!
Today, Paul’s description of himself in 2 Timothy 1:1 gets me thinking. He refers to himself as:
“…Paul, chosen by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus. (NLT)”
Paul knows exactly what God has chosen and sent him to do on this earth and identifies with it completely. This inspires me to seek God’s will for my life to the extent that you would wake me up from sleep and I would tell you what my calling is. The verse of scripture also inspires me to identify with who I am in Christ, and not just my gender, nationality, or any other demographic indicator.
Today Psalm 91 came up! This is one of my favorite Psalms because it is packed with promises, and for me, making confessions out of this verse of Scripture is almost like a vitamin pill that I try to ‘take’ everyday. Just like real life vitamins, I inevitably miss a few days and sometimes go long periods without, but once I start ‘taking’ them again I feel stronger and healthier. Here’s Psalm 91:
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation. (NLT)”
AMEN, AMEN, AMEN, AND AMEN!
